Last night I had my husband’s friend come over for dinner without notice
and I had to cook up something very quick. This is a very simple recipe if you
go through one of such days and running short of time to cook for your guests!
Ingredients:
Basmati rice – 1 cup
Water – 2 cups
Muttar (green peas) – ½ cup
Onion – ½
Ghee – 4 tbsp
Cardamom – 3
Cinnamon – 1 small piece
Cloves – 4
Salt – to taste
Method:
Wash and drain rice. Keep aside.
In a pan pour the ghee and add all the spices. Sauté them and add the
onions. Once they turn pink, add the rice.
Fry the rice for a while until they turn white and pale. Now add the
water and peas. You can add a dollop of ghee at this stage for richer flavor. Cover
and cook till done.
